Addition Projects: Hot Tub Rooms

Albright Remodeling helps families upgrade their homes to bring them more enjoyment, provide space for aging parents, growing families, or leisurely pursuits, and take advantage of new technology for cleaner, more efficient operation. Hot tub room additions are shown below. Hot tub rooms are usually built ‘slab on grade’ with a trench footing around the perimeter and a slab concrete floor to support the concentrated weight of a hot tub. If a slab construction is not used, extra care must be taken in designing the floor system to carry the load of the tub, water, and people in it.

It is also extremely important to design adequate ventilation to remove the steam generated by the use of the hot tub. An emergency disconnect switch must be located within a set distance from the tub.

There are many options for room heating, the door to separate the structure from the main house, and type of floor covering. Most hot tub rooms have ceramic tile floors.
